Findlay, considered by many as the Father of American Golf. His genius created an enduring championship test that remains as engaging today as it was a century ago.
The Design
Golf Course Design
Our course stands as a testament to two pioneers of American golf course architecture. The front nine, designed by legendary Scotsman Alexander Findlay in 1921, embodies his philosophy that golf courses should work in harmony with the natural landscape while presenting fresh challenges with each round. Known as the “Father of American Golf,” Findlay’s strategic vision is evident in every contour and bunker.
The second nine holes, completed in 1922, bears the distinctive touch of Cyril Hughes, the English golf professional from Lancaster Country Club. Hughes’ design seamlessly complemented Findlay’s work, creating an 18-hole championship course that has tested and inspired generations of golfers for over a century.
Playing at 6,375 yards from the championship tees, our par-71 course proves that great golf is about precision and strategy, not just distance. The natural elevation changes and undulating greens of Chester County’s landscape create an engaging round that rewards thoughtful shot selection.
